A Ray of Sunshine
It was a dull and dreary autumn day, and most of the characters in Storyland were feeling it. That is, except for Sunshine Sally. It didn’t matter to her that it was dull and dreary; she was happy no matter what the weather.
“Mrs. Robin,” said Sunshine Sally, her smile stretching from ear to ear. “Why aren’t you happy like you normally are? I know it is dull and dreary, but life isn’t so bad.”
“I am just having a bad day,” said Mrs. Robin, her feathers ruffled with worry. “My three babies won’t stop crying.”
“Do you mind if I look after them for a bit and give you a break?” asked Sunshine Sally, her eyes twinkling with kindness.
“Oh, I would love that,” said Mrs. Robin, her beak curving into a grateful smile.
“Go enjoy some time alone,” said Sunshine Sally, waving her hand encouragingly.
As soon as Mrs. Robin left, Sunshine Sally grabbed a nearby ladder and very carefully climbed up it. She could see the three babies crying, their tiny beaks open wide. She started humming a happy song, her voice as sweet as honey. Soon, the babies stopped crying and started humming along with her, their little heads bobbing to the tune.
“Oh my!” cried Mrs. Robin happily when she returned. “My babies are so happy now.”
“Those better be happy tears,” laughed Sunshine Sally, her laughter like a gentle breeze.
“They are,” smiled Mrs. Robin, her eyes shining with joy.
“Good,” said Sunshine Sally, her heart swelling with satisfaction.
As the sun began to peek through the clouds, casting a warm glow over Storyland, Mrs. Robin and Sunshine Sally sat together, watching the babies chirp and play. The dreary day had turned into a beautiful one, filled with laughter and happiness.
“Thank you, Sunshine Sally,” said Mrs. Robin, her voice filled with gratitude. “You truly are a ray of sunshine.”
“Anytime, Mrs. Robin,” said Sunshine Sally, her smile as bright as the sun. “I’m just happy to help.”
