Pixie Petal’s End of Spring Dance

“Oh dear,” said Pixie Petal, noticing the signs of spring fading into the brilliance of summer. “I will be fading away soon until next spring.”

Pixie Petal knew there was no sense in being upset over what she had no control over. She knew she had no choice but to embrace the change that was headed her way.

“Mother Nature always takes care of us plants and flowers,” Pixie Petal reassured herself. “I am going to make the best of the next few days.”

Determined, Pixie Petal decided she would dance her heart out for the next few days. She began to sway gracefully to the music that whispered from the forest behind her. She had to strain her ears to hear better because the melodic sounds of spring were starting to diminish.

“Don’t leave me yet,” Pixie Petal whispered to herself, willing the sounds of spring to intensify.

For the first couple of days, it was easy for the spring chorus to swell when she willed it. However, soon the symphony of spring faded, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t summon it back.

“I guess this is where I fade away until next spring,” sighed Pixie Petal.

With a gentle rustle, Pixie Petal extended her leaves and petals. She noticed that her once bright lights were flickering vibrantly and, in fact, not fading at all.

Overwhelmed with joy, Pixie Petal suddenly began to perceive new sounds, as delicate as the transition from spring to summer. The sounds were different as the seasons changed. The summer’s cadence was busier but filled with abundant laughter and fun.

Pixie Petal began to dance, her movements full of life, and she was overjoyed that she hadn’t faded away. She was thrilled to embrace and revel in the brand-new summer season.
