A Spring Leaf

It was a cold and miserable day for Ant. He was getting very discouraged at the horrible spring weather.

“I sure wish the sun would come out and stay out for more than a few minutes at a time,” said Ant.

Ant decided he would try to make the best of it. He decided he would take his leaf and go for a walk. He never went anywhere without his leaf. It was his security blanket.

“My leaf!” shouted Ant, when he couldn’t find it. “I had it right on the floor beside my bed! I need my leaf. I don’t know where it is.”

Ant realized that getting angry and upset was not helping him find his leaf. He realized that he was going to have to look for it.

Ant searched the bedroom and he could feel himself getting angry again, because he wasn’t finding it. He then looked under his bed and there it was.

“Oh!” cried Ant, hugging his leaf. “Thank goodness I found you.”

Ant thought back to the very first time he found his leaf. He had just had a huge argument with his siblings and he wanted to escape from them. He went outside and he saw the leaf on the ground. He crawled in underneath it. Being under that leaf, gave Ant a sense of security. He carried that leaf around with him from that day on.

“Come on leaf,” smiled Ant. “Let’s go for a walk.”
