A Happy Spring

It is Groundhog Day. Peter Prairie Dog was very sad and depressed. He saw the groundhog was getting all the attention and he really didn’t think it was fair. He was jealous of the groundhog.

The groundhog was enjoying his spotlight. He had just predicted an early spring. The crowd around him was cheering him. They were so happy.

The groundhog looked over to where Peter Prairie Dog was sitting. At first he smiled to himself and thought selfishly about how he was better than Peter Prairie Dog,  but then a thought  struck him.

“What if the tables were turned?” asked the groundhog to himself. “How would I feel if Peter Prairie Dog was getting all the recognition and I wasn’t? I know I would be jealous. It isn’t really fair that I get all the recognition and Peter Prairie Dog gets none.”

The groundhog went over to Peter Prairie Deg and asked him to join him for the remainder of the Groundhog Day festivities.

“Thank you so much,” said Peter Prairie Dog. “This truly makes me happy.”

“It makes me happy as well,” said the groundhog. “Let’s have a happy spring!”
