Road Trip

“It is time for me to go on a road trip,” said Travelin’ Rick to himself. “I feel the urge to travel, even though I travel for a living.”

Travelin’ Rick thought long and hard about his decision. The more he thought about it, the more excited he got.

“I have some planning I need to do,” said Travelin’ Rick. “The first thing I need to do, is to set myself a budget.”

Travelin’ Rick got out his phone and checked his savings account. He determined that he had about $500 he could spend.

“Now,” said Travelin’ Rick. “That isn’t a lot of money but if I am careful, it should be enough to go away for a few days.”

Travelin’ Rick then had to figure out where he wanted to go on his road trip. Travelin’ Rick got out his huge map of Canada and set it on the kitchen table. Once he had it spread open, he searched for his home first, which was Calgary, Alberta. Travelin’ Rick closed his eyes and pointed on the map.

When he opened his eyes, he found he was pointing at the province of British Columbia. He loved the thought of going to BC and any other year, he would have jumped at the chance. However, Travelin’ Rick knew, from watching the news, that BC was burning up from the forest fires that were burning there this summer.

“This is not a good time to be traveling in BC,” said Travelin’ Rick.

“I could go to Ontario,” said Travelin’ Rick. “However that is a little too far and it would cost a lot more than $500 to go there. I think I will try going to Edmonton. Edmonton is only a 3 hour drive from Calgary.”

Travelin’ Rick had been to Edmonton several times. His favourite place to visit in Edmonton was the West Edmonton Mall.

“I will bring my swim suit with me this time,” said Travelin’ Rick.

The West Edmonton Mall had a beach inside of it. Travelin’ Rick loved to swim but the last time he was at the West Edmonton Mall, he didn’t have his swim suit with him. This time he was going to be prepared.

Travelin’ Rick packed a few things, got into his car and started driving along.

“Oh dear,” said Travelin’ Rick. “How can I go on a road trip without music?”

Travelin’ Rick turned around, went home and grabbed the music CD he had made especially for this trip.

“I am ready to go now,” said Travelin’ Rick, listening to his favourite road trip music.

Travelin’ Rick drove to Edmonton. He had a lot of fun at the West Edmonton mall. He did get to go swimming and he enjoyed it very much.

Moral of this Story:

  • You can’t go on a road trip without your favourite music.
  • Example: Travelin’ Rick forgot his road trip CD at home so he had to go back home to get it.
