Fawn Goes to a Pajama Party

“Good morning, Spot,” said Fawn cheerfully, sipping a cup of coffee and reading the morning paper.

“Well, aren’t we in a good mood,” said Spot.

“Yes,” admitted Fawn. “I am in a good mood.”

“I see that you have recovered from your terrible mood yesterday,” said Spot.

Fawn got very upset yesterday when he learned that their neighbour, Daisy, was going to have a birthday party and he wasn’t invited. Daisy was a cow that lived on the farm just up the road. He felt really hurt. After all, it wasn’t just any old birthday party, Daisy was having a pajama party.

“Yes,” said Fawn. “I have decided that I am going to go to the pajama party anyway.”

“Oh Fawn, you’re not!” exclaimed Spot.

“Yes, I am,” said Fawn, suddenly standing up from the table.

“Oh my!” laughed Spot, just noticing that her friend was wearing a pair of old pink flannel pajamas.

“So, now what do you have to say?” asked Fawn angrily.

“Look Fawn,” said Spot. “You will embarrass poor Daisy. All her barnyard friends are going to be there. She has even invited the Hansens and Grampy.”

“Grampy is going!” exclaimed Fawn angrily.

“Oh, oh,” exclaimed Spot, realizing she shouldn’t have told Fawn about Grampy.

Daisy invited my best buddy Grampy to the pajama party and not me!” Fawn yelled.

Fawn was very upset. Spot decided that she’d go talk to Daisy about this.

“Hi Daisy,” said Spot, seeing Daisy at the front gate.

“Hi Spot!” exclaimed Daisy. “I have something for you and Fawn. I have been so busy planning my party that I forgot to give them to you. They’re invitations to my pajama party!”

“Oh thank goodness!” exclaimed Spot. “Fawn has been so upset because he thought you purposely forgot to invite him.”

“Oh I love the both of you,” said Daisy. “You two have to come to my party!”

Spot went back to the barn with Daisy.

“Look what I have!” exclaimed Spot. “I’ve got invitations to Daisy’s party!”

“You mean I’m invited,” said Fawn.

“Yes, both of us are,” said Spot.

“Well, I’m not sure that I am going to go,” said Fawn.

“Fawn!” exclaimed Spot angrily. “For two days you have been moping around here because you weren’t invited to Daisy’s pajama party and now that you are invited, you aren’t going! You don’t make any sense!”

“Well,” said Fawn. “I might be busy!”

“You can just get unbusy,” said Spot. “You have to go. Daisy wants you to go and I want you to go and besides Grampy is going, too!”

“Okay,” said Fawn. “I’ll go, but I just want you to know that I am only going because Grampy is going!”
