Bobby Bear

Racum Raccoon was walking through the park in the Big Dark Forest.

“Hey there!” exclaimed Bobby Bear. “Let’s go fishing today.”

“I don’t think I should,” said Racum. “I don’t know who you are. You are a stranger.”

“Well,” said Bobby Bear. “What if we were friends? Would you come fishing with me then?”

“I might,” said Racum.

“Okay,” said Bobby Bear. “So why don’t we become friends?”

“We could,” said Racum.

“Well come down to the lake with me and then we could become friends,” said Bobby Bear.

Racum wanted to go with Bobby Bear, but something inside him told him not to.

“I can’t go today,” said Racum.

“Oh okay,” said Bobby Bear.

Racum went home that night and when we was sleeping a thought came to him about Bobby Bear. The next morning he went to see his friend, Mad Dog Wolf.

“Hi Mad Dog!” exclaimed Racum.

“Hi Racum,” said Mad Dog.

“Do you know Bobby Bear?” asked Racum.

“Well,” said Mad Dog. “I have heard of him.”

“What is he like?” asked Racum.

“He is lonely,” said Mad Dog. “He has no friends but I have heard that he is nice and wouldn’t hurt a flea. Why?”

“Well,” said Racum. “He asked me to go fishing with him but I don’t know him and something told me not to.”

“It is always good to be cautious,” said Mad Dog. “But I don’t think Bobby Bear would hurt you.”

“I have an idea,” said Racum. “Do you want to come fishing with us? I’d feel better if you came with us.”

“Sure,” said Mad Dog. “I’d love to go fishing.”

Racum and Mad Dog walked to the park with their fishing rods in their hands and waited at the spot that Racum had seen Bobby Bear the day before.

“Hi there!” exclaimed Bobby Bear.

“Oh hi!” said Racum. “I hope you don’t mind if I brought my friend along with me.”

“Mind!” screamed Bobby Bear. “What is the matter with you? You don’t trust me.”

“Look,” said Mad Dog. “Don’t talk to my friend like that? He was a little apprehensive about meeting you, so he brought me along.”

“Well,” said Bobby Bear. “That is just great!”

“Okay,” said Racum. “I’m sorry. I made a mistake. Now, do you want to go fishing with me or not?”

“Sure,” said Bobby Bear, stomping off into the woods.

Racum and Mad Dog followed Bobby Bear into the woods. They kept going further and further.

“I’m scared,” whispered Racum to Mad Dog, when Bobby Bear wasn’t listening.

“Me too,” said Mad Dog.

Just then, Mad Dog tripped on a log and fell to the ground. Bobby Bear grabbed Racum by the hand when Mad Dog fell.

“What are you doing to me?” asked Racum, scared out of his wits.

“Just be quiet,” said Bobby Bear.

Bobby Bear took Racum to his den, but luckily for Racum, Mad Dog was behind them and had a large stick in his hand.

“Let my friend go,” said Mad Dog, who was limping on his left foot. “Or I’m going to hit you over the head with this stick.”

Bobby Bear let go of Racum’s hand when he saw that Mad Dog was quite serious. Racum and Mad Dog raced as fast as they could back to Mad Dog’s den.

“Are you okay?” Racum asked Mad Dog, when he slammed the door to his den tightly and locked it.

“Yes,” said Mad Dog. “I think I just twisted my ankle. How about you? Are you okay?

“Just a little shaken,” said Racum. “I think next time I will trust my instincts.”

“Good idea,” said Mad Dog.
