A Grouchy Groundhog
It was Groundhog Day and normally Silly Groundhog would be excited and happy but this particular Groundhog Day made him grouchy.
“Why does it have to be Groundhog Day today!” snapped Silly Groundhog as he looked in the mirror at himself.
“I don’t feel like going outside to see if I see my shadow or not! If I do happen to see it, everyone will just yell at me anyway. Every year it is the same old thing. The only thing people want is an early spring!”
Silly Groundhog heard someone knocking at the door to his den. It was time for him to go outside.
“I am really not in the mood for this nonsense,” said Silly Groundhog, yelling at himself with every step he took.
“There’s the groundhog!” people shouted, seeing him poke his head out of his den.
“It appears we are having an early spring,” said someone else in the crowd, cheering. “The groundhog didn’t see his shadow!”
The crowd cheered. They were all so happy with Silly Groundhog and that actually made him feel better. The more the crowd cheered, the happier Silly Groundhog became.
“This feels better,” said Silly Groundhog. “These people are making me feel happy. I don’t know why I was in such a grouchy mood earlier but that is okay. I am happy now and that is all that matters.”
