Summer Garden

“Where are you going now?” Troll Mother asked Troll Daddy, as he got up from the table right after supper.

“I am going to weed the garden,” said Troll Daddy. “Did you want to come help?”

“Sure,” said Troll Mother. “Troll Sister and Troll Brother can do the dishes. Troll Baby can come with us.”

“Good,” said Troll Daddy. “I can use all the help I can get.”

“Why don’t we come help too?” asked Troll Sister.

“We can do the dishes when we come back inside,” said Troll Brother.

“Great idea,” said Troll Daddy.

The Troll Family spent the next two hours, pulling weeds and watering the garden. It became a chore for the whole family every night after supper.

“I sure hope all this hard work will pay off,” said Troll Daddy, late one evening, after the work in the garden was done, the dishes washed and the Troll children were asleep.

“I am sure it is,” said Troll Mother. “We are starting to get a few vegetables already.”

The Troll family continued to work hard at their garden and pretty soon it was starting to pay off. They had so many vegetables that they didn’t know what to do with them.

“We can make some preservatives and then we can freeze them too,” said Troll Mother.

“I think I will not plant so much next year,” said Troll Daddy.

“Too many vegetables,” said Troll Baby.

“Yes,” laughed Troll Daddy. “Way too many!”
