The Best, Yet Coldest Day Ever

Crystal Frost walked hand in hand with her Great Aunt Matty through the snowy streets, the cold winter air biting at their faces. But Crystal didn’t feel the chill. She loved the cold, and the snowflakes dancing around her only added to her joy. Aunt Matty, however, was a different story.

“Are you not cold?” she asked, her voice muffled by the scarf wrapped around her neck. “This is the coldest day so far this year.”

Crystal smiled, her bright blue eyes sparkling with amusement.

“You know I love the cold,” she said, her breath visible in the chilly air.

Aunt Matty chuckled, her eyes twinkling with warmth. “Yes, I do know that, but this is beyond cold.”

Just then, Gerard, Crystal’s boyfriend and the goalie for the Storyland Tales hockey team, wrapped his arms around Crystal’s waist, pulling her close.

“Let’s get your aunt inside,” he said, his deep voice filled with concern. “I’m a little cold myself.”

Aunt Matty smiled, her face rosy from the cold. “Oh dear, yes, let’s go inside.”

The three of them ducked into a cozy coffee shop, the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee enveloping them like a hug. They ordered hot chocolate and coffee, and as Gerard set the steaming cups on the table, Aunt Matty winked at him. Crystal raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued.

“Why are you winking at my boyfriend?” she asked, a playful smile on her face.

Gerard’s eyes locked onto Crystal’s, and he smiled, his face filled with love and adoration. He pulled a small velvet box out of his sweater pocket and knelt down on one knee, his eyes never leaving Crystal’s face. Crystal gasped in surprise, her heart racing with excitement.

“Crystal,” Gerard said, his voice filled with emotion, “from the moment I met you, I knew you were special. Will you marry me?”

He opened the velvet box, revealing a stunning diamond ring that sparkled like ice in the coffee shop lights.

Crystal’s eyes widened in amazement, and she felt tears of joy prick at the corners of her eyes.

“Yes!” she cried, her voice barely above a whisper. “Yes, I will marry you!”

Aunt Matty let out a whoop of excitement, her face alight with joy.

“You never answered my question,” Crystal asked Aunt Matty, still in shock from the proposal.

Aunt Matty’s eyes sparkled with mischief.

“The ring Gerard gave you is my engagement ring,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. “I always wanted you to have it, but I was waiting for the right time.”

Crystal’s eyes widened in surprise, and she felt a deep sense of gratitude towards her aunt.

“You are amazing!” she cried, happily. “Both of you!”

Gerard smiled, his eyes shining with love, and wrapped his arms around Crystal, pulling her close.

“We’re going to spend the rest of our lives making memories together,” he whispered, his lips brushing against Crystal’s ear.

As they hugged, Aunt Matty smiled, her eyes twinkling with happiness. She knew that Crystal and Gerard were meant to be, and she was thrilled to have played a small part in their love story. And as they walked out of the coffee shop, hand in hand, Crystal knew that this was just the beginning of their happily ever after.
