True Friend

“Fawn,” asked Spot. “Where are you going?”

“I’m going to my new friends house,” said Fawn. “Joey asked me to come over and play with him.”

“Oh,” said Spot, who was a little disappointed. “You seem to be going to your friends house an awful lot lately.”

“We have a lot of fun together,” said Fawn.

Fawn left to go to his friends house and Spot sat at the kitchen table. She was very disappointed in Fawn. He had promised her that they would do something together that day and now he had forgotten all about it. Spot wanted to spend some time with Fawn. She wanted to go for a hike in the mountains with him. She just wanted to spend some quality with him and he had forgotten all about it.

About an hour later, Fawn came home. He was very agitated and Spot could tell there was something wrong.

“What is wrong?” she asked him.

“Joey didn’t want to play with me today, after all,” said Fawn, angrily. “I got all the way to his house and he had already left to go play with the horses in the other field. He didn’t even look at me when I passed him by.”

“Some friend he is,” said Spot.

“Seems to be that way,” said Fawn. “Seems to be that every friend I make turns out to be no good.”

“Every friend,” said Spot.

“Every friend,” said Fawn. “Except of course you.”

Fawn looked over at Spot and that is when he realized that he had hurt her today. He had forgotten that they had the day planned already.

“Oh my!” exclaimed Fawn. “Looks like I’m in trouble aren’t I?”

“What are you talking about?” asked Spot innocently.

“We were supposed to go hiking in the mountains today,” said Fawn. “And I forgot all about it.”

“Well,” said Spot. “It isn’t too late. We could still go.”

Fawn and Spot spent the rest of the day hiking through the mountains together. They had a wonderful time together and Spot was really glad that Fawn eventually did remember their plans.
