BC Bigfoot

“Spot,” said Fawn. “I want to go for a walk today. Do you want to come with me?”

“Sure,” said Spot.

Spot really wanted to go for a walk because, even though it was November, it was still really nice weather outside.

“Let’s go to the bush today,” said Fawn.

Fawn and Spot walked around the mountain that was at the bottom corner of their property and then continued on until they came to an open clearing. About ten minutes from there was the bush that they wanted to go to.

“Did you see that?” asked Fawn, pointing toward the bush.

“What?” asked Spot.

“I saw something big and hairy walk into the bush, ” said Fawn, trembling.

“Maybe it’s a bear,” said Spot. “Or, maybe it’s a bigfoot.”

“Well either way,” said Fawn. “I’m not sticking around to find out.”

Fawn turned to leave and just at that moment he felt a big hairy arm on his shoulder.

“Oh Fawn, ” said Spot, in a very timid voice. “I think it really is a bigfoot.”

“Yes,” said Fawn, stopping dead in his tracks, not daring to move. “It definitely is.”

“Yes, ” said the bigfoot. “I am a bigfoot, Harry Bigfoot is the name.”

Fawn and Spot were pretty frightened about this time. They had no idea what a bigfoot was or if the bigfoot would hurt them or not. There weren’t any big foot in Ontario, where they used to live.

“You aren’t going to hurt us?” asked Spot. “Are you?”

Harry took his hand off Fawn’s shoulder.

“No,” said Harry. “I just want to be your friend.”

“We’d love to be your friend,” said Spot.

Fawn, Spot and Harry had a lot of fun that day. They found out that Harry had no friends at all because everyone was afraid of him. They also found out that he was very nice and gentle. When they were leaving to go home, Fawn and Spot noticed that when he smiled he had no teeth.

“”Good thing he has no teeth, ” said Spot. “Or we might have ended up being their dinner.”

Mr. And Mrs. Hansen were in the barn with Fawn and Spot that evening. They were describing their lives in BC compared to what it was like living in Ontario.

“It’s a much nicer here,” said Spot. “There are mountains and eagles everywhere.”

“And bigfoots too,” said Fawn.

“Bigfoots!” exclaimed Mr. Hansen.

Fawn and Spot explained their meeting with Harry to Mr. Mrs. Hansen and how friendly and gentle he was to them.

“I’ve heard that bigfoots eat beef,” said Mr. Hansen. ” I’d be careful if I were you.”

“Well,” laughed Fawn. ” I don’t think we have to worry about that.”

“Why?” asked Mr. Hansen.

“Because Harry has no teeth!” laughed Spot.
