Pea Pod’s Green St. Patrick’s Day

Farmer Ted was relaxing in his lounge chair, reading the newspaper one evening after dinner.

“Oh look,” pointed Farmer Ted to an ad in the paper. “There is going to be a St. Patrick’s Day dance.”

“That sounds like fun,” said Farmer Ted’s wife, Sue, looking over his shoulder at the ad he was pointing at.

Farmer Ted laid the newspaper down on the coffee table. He got up from his chair and did a little jig.

“Oh!” exclaimed Daddy Pea Pod, who was sitting on the coffee table, “That ad is such a pretty green colour.”

The Pea Pod’s are a family of green peas that live with Farmer Ted and Sue. Because the Pea Pod’s are green peas, their favourite colour is green.

“Yes it is,” said Mommy Pea Pod. “What exactly is St. Patrick’s Day?”

St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish day of celebration,” said Sue.

“But why the green colour?” asked Mommy Pea Pod.

“Part of the celebration includes little men dressed in green outfits,” explained Sue. “They are called leprechauns.”

“They sound most interesting,” said Mommy Pea Pod. “I think I am going to like St. Patrick’s Day. When is it?”

“It is tomorrow,” said Farmer Ted. “March 17th.”

The Pea Pod family all dressed in their best green outfits for St. Patrick’s Day. Mommy Pea Pod had a long dark green gown on. Daddy Pea Pod had a green suit and tie on and Baby Pea Pod had a little green suit on with a light green bib.

“You all look amazing,” said Sue, also dressed in a long green gown.

“I think you should all come to the dance with us,” said Farmer Ted, fixing his green tie.

“We would love to,” said Daddy Pea Pod.

Farmer Ted, Sue and the Pea Pods all had an amazing time at the St. Patrick’s Day dance.

“Oh look,” said Mommy Pea Pod, noticing a leprechaun on the dance floor. “It is a leprechaun.”

“Would you like to dance?” the leprechaun asked her.

Mommy Pea Pod looked over at Daddy Pea Pod and saw a look of jealousy in his face.

“No thank you,” said Mommy Pea Pod. “I have my own little man dressed in green to dance with.”

“I think I like St. Patrick’s Day very much,” said Daddy Pea Pod.

“Me too,” said Mommy Pea Pod, giving him a kiss.

Moral of this Story:
