Chester Chipmunk’s Christmas Wish
“It seems that I have a lot of food stored in my cupboards,” said Chester Chipmunk, who was looking through his cupboards.
“Yes,” said Suzie, his sister. “There is a lot of food there. I have tons of extra food in my cupboards as well. You know, it is close to Christmas. We could donate some of this food to other animals in the forest. I am sure that they would appreciate it.”
“That is such a good idea,” said Chester. “I can’t imagine not having any food to eat, especially at Christmas.”
“Me either,” said Suzie. “We are lucky to have what we have.”
“My Christmas wish is that everyone in the forest has food to eat for Christmas,” said Chester.
“That is a pretty big Christmas wish,” said Suzie.
“Yes it is,” said Chester. “But with a little help, I think I can do it.”
“Well,” said Suzie. “Count me in. I would love to help out.”
“Here is what I think we need to do,” said Chester. “We need to speak with the families that are better off and see if they are willing to donate extras and then we will deliver what we get to the more needy families.”
“Okay,” said Suzie. “That is a good solid plan. Let’s get working on it.”
Chester and Suzie were amazed at the generosity of some of the animals that were better off. They donated an overwhelming amount of food. Some donated warm blankets and some even donated a few animal toys.
“Chester,” said Suzie. “Look at the response we got. This is amazing.”
“It certainly is,” said Chester. “I am so overwhelmed. I had no idea we would get this kind of response.”
Over the next few days, Chester and Suzie delivered all of the items they received.
“Oh my!” exclaimed Mrs. Bluebird when Chester handed her some seeds and a nice warm blanket so that she could wrap her babies in. “We appreciate this so much.”
“I can’t believe this,” said Mrs. Fox, when Chester handed her some food and a couple of toys for her babies. “I have two babies to feed and we just ran out of food this morning. Thank you so much!”
Chester and Suzie felt so good about what they did. They were able to give the less fortunate animals a Christmas they would never have had otherwise. They had so many animals in tears over their selfless act.
“You know,” said Chester. “I feel really good about myself.”
“I do too,” said Suzie. “I am very proud of what we have done.”
Chester and Suzie had the best Christmas ever. They decided they would do the same thing next Christmas.
