Lost Valentine
Fred Bunny was hopping around in the forest one Valentine’s Day. The sun was shining brightly and it was a warm winters day. Fred saw Melissa Bunny hopping right toward him.
“Hi Fred!” exclaimed Melissa. “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
“Oh dear,” said Fred to himself. “Melissa must have received the flowers I sent her this morning.”
Fred was shy and he didn’t want Melissa to embarrass him about the flowers. He liked Melissa a lot and he couldn’t bear it if she teased him.
“Happy Valentine’s Day to you too, Melissa,” said Fred, quietly.
“Fred you are such a shy bunny,” said Melissa. “So, what are you going to get me for Valentine’s Day?”
“You are such a kidder Melissa,” said Fred. “You know what I got you for Valentine’s Day, don’t you?”
“Fred Bunny!” exclaimed Melissa, angrily. “I don’t know what you are talking about. I haven’t received anything from you yet.”
“But I sent you some flowers,” Fred blurted out.
“You did,” said Melissa. “That is so nice of you, Fred. I’d better get home then in case they come while I am out here talking to you.”
Melissa left and went back home.
Soon, Suzie Bunny came hopping through the forest.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Fred,” said Suzie, cheerfully.
“You too,” said Fred.
“And by the way,” said Suzie. “Thank you very much for the flowers.”
“Oh no!” exclaimed Fred to himself. “What have I done!”
Fred hopped quickly to the florist that was located at the edge of the forest.
“Hi,” said Fred, sadly, when he entered the florist shop.
“Well hello young bunny,” said the florist. “This is strange seeing you twice in one day. Don’t tell me that you have another girlfriend that you want to send flowers to?”
“No,” said Fred. “As a matter of fact…”
Fred told the florist all about Suzie receiving the flowers instead of Melissa.
“Oh dear,” said the florist. “We will rectify this right away. It looks like we made a big mistake.”
The florist pulled Fred’s order from his invoice book. He saw right away that the flowers that Fred had ordered were supposed to go to Melissa Bunny and not Suzie Bunny.
“I will send your Melissa the biggest bouquet of flowers that she has ever had,” said the florist.
“Thank you,” said Fred.
Melissa was waiting inside her house, pacing the floor, waiting for a delivery truck to deliver her flowers to her from Fred. She was getting impatient.
“I bet he was just kidding,” said Melissa. “I bet Fred never sent me any flowers at all.”
Just then there was a knock at Melissa’s door. Melissa was shocked when she saw the bouquet of flowers the delivery man was holding.
“Oh my!” exclaimed Melissa, reading the card that was attached to the flowers. “Fred really did send me flowers all right!”
“Boy,” said the delivery man. “This Fred must really love you.”
“Yes,” said Melissa. “I really think he does.”
Fred stopped by Melissa’s house later on that evening.
“Thank you,” said Melissa, kissing Fred on the cheek. “You went all out this Valentine’s Day, now didn’t you.”
Fred glanced over to the table and saw a huge bouquet of colourful flowers sitting in a vase.
“I probably over did it,” said Fred.
“Never,” said Melissa.
Fred pulled a small package out of his pocket, handed it to Melissa and got down on his knee. Melissa tore the wrapping off the package and found a beautiful diamond ring inside of it.
“Melissa Bunny,” said Fred. “Will you marry me?”
“Yes Fred Bunny,” cried Melissa. “I will marry you.”
