Billy Troll Turns Country

“What are you doing Billy?” asked Dianne Troll as she walked up the pathway to Billy Troll’s front porch. “Hey, that is a neat costume!”

Dianne was referring to the cowboy boots, cowboy hat and checkered shirt that her friend was wearing.

“Hi Dianne!” exclaimed Billy. “This outfit isn’t a costume, it’s my new look.”

“Wait a minute,” said Dianne. “You’re kidding, aren’t you?”

“No Dianne,” said Billy. “I’m not kidding.”

“Billy, you look like a cowboy,” said Dianne.

“I am a cowboy,” said Billy.

“Oh come on, Billy,” laughed Dianne. “You don’t know the first thing about being a cowboy!”

“A lot you know,” said Billy. “Before I moved into Troll Town, I worked at Troll Ranch, every weekend and during the summer holidays for four years.”

“Oh,” said Dianne. “Well, you’re not going to sing that country stuff, are you?”

“I sure am,” said Billy. “Tonight!”

“What?” screamed Dianne. “Are you out of your mind? Tonight is a very big night for you. This will be your first televised concert!”

“Yes, and I can’t think of a better time to show my fans my new image,” said Billy.

“Billy, I think you’re making a big mistake,” said Dianne.

“I have thought about this long and hard, Dianne,” said Billy. “Right now, country music is more popular than ever.”

“Well, that is true,” said Dianne. “I just hope you know what you are doing. Good luck tonight, Billy.”

“Thanks Dianne,” said Billy. “Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”

“Oh boy,” thought Billy to himself after Dianne had left. “I wonder if I am doing the right thing.”
