When I was a little girl, I would visit with my Grandma and Grandpa. They lived in a cottage that my Grandpa built in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. Grandma always made me something very special to eat when I visited her. She would make me a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Now, that may seem like an odd combination but when my Grandma made it with her own special love, it was the best sandwich ever.
Grandma would take thick slices of white bread, spread a good thick layer of peanut butter on one slice and then put thick slices of banana on top of that. She would top it off with the other slice of bread. Then she would cut it up into four pieces for us. She would always give us a glass of chocolate milk to go with it.
The peanut butter and banana sandwiches that Grandma made were always the best ever. I have made them several times myself but somehow they never seem to taste as good as the ones Grandma made. They are always missing one very important ingredient, Grandma’s love.
