Christmas Building 2024 – Apartment 3 – Arlene the Artist
Arlene the Artist stood back to admire her work, a giant colorful Christmas mural that she had just finished painting for Storyland. The mural depicted a festive scene with cheerful characters, twinkling lights, and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Arlene’s heart swelled with pride as she saw the smiles on the faces of those who stopped to admire her artwork.
“Wow, Arlene! This mural is absolutely stunning,” said her best friend, Ben, as he approached her. “You’ve really outdone yourself this time.”
Arlene blushed and looked down modestly. “Thank you, Ben. I just wanted to bring some holiday cheer to everyone in Storyland.”
“You’ve certainly done that,” Ben said, his eyes shining with admiration. “Your art always brings so much joy to everyone.”
Arlene smiled, feeling a warm glow of satisfaction. “I’m just happy that people enjoy it.”
As they stood there, admiring the mural, Arlene’s phone buzzed with a new email notification. She pulled out her phone and her eyes widened with wonder as she gazed at the invitation to the Christmas Building on her screen.
“Oh my!” she cried happily, her voice filled with excitement. “This is such an honor. I don’t understand why I was chosen.”
Ben smiled warmly as he wrapped his arms around her. “You were chosen because your art has put so many smiles on Storyland characters’ faces,” he said, his eyes shining with admiration.
Arlene’s face glowed with pleasure. “You think so?” she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Ben nodded emphatically. “I know so,” he said, his voice filled with conviction.
As Arlene packed her suitcase, Ben gave her a big kiss and a hug. “You go have a great time, and there will be a huge surprise waiting for you when you return,” he said, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Arlene’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Oh my!” she exclaimed. “This is the best day of my life!”
Ben grinned from ear to ear. “Not quite,” he said, his voice filled with promise.
Arlene didn’t have time to think about what Ben’s surprise was. She was whisked away to the Christmas Building in a luxurious limousine, where Lost Christmas Tree greeted her warmly.
“Welcome,” he said, his branches swaying gently in the breeze.
“Thank you,” said Arlene. “I am sure thankful to be here but I do wonder why I was chosen?”
“You were chosen because of the beauty your artwork brings to Storyland,” said Lost Christmas Tree, giving her a warm and genuine smile.
Arlene’s heart swelled with pride and gratitude. She spent the next few days relaxing, enjoying delicious food, and participating in joyful events. There was a ceremony where Arlene received an award for the work she had done in brightening the lives of those around her with her art.
As she returned home, Ben waited for her at the door, a small box in his hand. As soon as she walked through the door, he knelt down on one knee, his eyes shining with love.
“Ben,” Arlene cried, her voice filled with surprise. “What are you doing?”
Ben’s voice trembled with emotion. “Will you marry me?” he asked, nervously taking a beautiful ring out of the box.
Arlene’s eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at the ring. “Yes,” she cried, her voice filled with joy. “I will definitely marry you!”
As Ben slid the ring onto her finger, Arlene felt like the luckiest person in Storyland. She knew that this was just the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in her life, one filled with love, art, and happiness.
