Christmas Memories

“Hey Fawn,” said Spot, cleaning up the kitchen. “What are you doing?”

“I don’t know,” said Fawn. “I’m kind of depressed.”

“How could you be depressed?” asked Spot. “You just had a wonderful Christmas holiday. You got to see Grampy again, too.”

“Yes,” said Fawn. “That is why I’m depressed.”

“Fawn,” said Spot. “Sometimes I never understand you.”

“Well,” said Fawn. “It was great visiting with Grampy and the whole Christmas thing was wonderful too but now Grampy is gone home and Christmas is now over with already.”

“Okay,” said Spot. “I take that back what I just said because what you just said makes perfect sense. We all worked so hard all year long preparing for Christmas and then it is over sooner than you could blink your eye. Then, we wait all year long to see Grampy too but then he is gone back home before you know it.”

“I guess we just have to cherish what time we do get with Grampy,” said Fawn.

“Yes,” said Spot. “I think that is correct.”

“And the same for Christmas too,” said Fawn. “We should cherish it too. Sometimes life is just not fair.”

“Well,” said Spot. “Life is what you make of it. Life is short and you just have to make the most of it.”

Fawn sat for most of that day thinking of all the fun that he had with Grampy the day before.

“You know,” Fawn said to Spot that evening at dinner. “We did only have a short time with Grampy before he had to go home, but at least the memories I have of our day together are nice and long.”

“There,” said Spot, patting Fawn on the head. “That is my old Fawn back.”

Moral of this Story:

    • Cherish good memories.
    • Example: Fawn and Spot only got to spend a short time with Grampy, but the memories of it are nice and long.
