A Bad Joke

Jackie Jester knew it was April Fool’s Day. He wanted to play a trick on all the Storyland characters. Jackie Jester went around to all the characters and told them it was icy outside.

“But it is now April,” all the characters said to him, when he visited them. “We don’t believe you.”

“Believe it or not,” said Jackie Jester. “However, don’t go outside. I wouldn’t want to see you trip on the ice.”

Jackie Jester went around all of Storyland, telling all the characters the same thing.

“It is very icy outside,” said Jackie Jester, going to Mr. Iceman’s house.

“So it is you that has been telling everyone that it is icy outside,” said Mr. Iceman. “Do you know everyone you told thinks it was me that made it icy. My phone has been ringing off the hook all morning.”

“April Fool’s,” said Jackie Jester. “I am sorry. I thought this would be a harmless joke to play. I will go tell everyone I am sorry.”

“No need to,” said Mr. Iceman, opening his door so Jackie Jester could see everyone standing there. “April Fool’s!”

“My!” cried Jackie Jester. “All of you played an April Fool’s Day joke on me!”
