Beach Day

It was a very warm summer day. Rat Boy and his baby sister, Cecilia, were contemplating on what they were going to do that day.

“Let’s go to the beach,” suggested Cecilia.

“You know if we do that we will scare all the people away,” said Rat Boy.

“There aren’t any people at the beach,” said Cecilia. “The beach is too littered with trash.”

“In that case,” said Rat Boy. “Let’s go!”

Rat Boy and Cecilia walked to the beach and when they got there, they were disgusted with what they saw. The beach sand was littered with garbage from one end of it to the other.

“This is disgusting,” said Rat Boy. “And, people call rats dirty.”

“You know,” said Cecilia. “If we cleaned it up, we could use the beach.”

“You are right,” said Rat Boy.

It took Rat Boy and Cecilia a few hours to clean up all the garbage. Once they had it all cleaned up, they took a well-deserved, refreshing dip in the water. The next morning, Rat Boy and Cecilia headed to the beach. There were lots of people there, enjoying the water.

“What about the people?” asked Cecilia. “Won’t we scare them away?”

“I really don’t care if we do,” said Rat Boy. “You and I worked hard cleaning up this beach. We have every right to enjoy it.”

“Yes,” said Cecilia, stepping onto the sand and watching people scatter away. “You are right. We do have every right to enjoy it.”

Moral of this Story:
