“Oh good,” said Silly Groundhog. “I didn’t see my shadow. That means there will be an early spring.”
Silly Groundhog loved when he didn’t see his shadow. He knew people would be happy and he loved that. He didn’t like it when people were unhappy, especially at him.
“Groundhogs have one of those up and down relationships with people,” said Silly Groundhog. “One year they love us and the next they don’t.”
“We groundhogs do get a bad rap,” Silly Groundhog heard a voice say from behind him.
Silly Groundhog turned around. He saw the most beautiful female groundhog he had ever seen.
“I’ve never seen you before,” said Silly Groundhog. “My name is Silly Groundhog.”
“I am Georgie,” said the female groundhog.
“That is a beautiful name,” said Silly Groundhog.
“Yours is a silly name,” laughed Georgie.
Silly Groundhog didn’t care if Georgie teased him. He was in love and he felt this was the best Groundhog Day ever.
