Baby Face Monster’s First Christmas

It was getting colder in Northern Ontario where Baby Face Monster and Ellie, the researcher lived. Baby Face had built a fire so it was nice and warm in the cave where they lived.

“It must almost be Christmas,” said Ellie.

“Christmas?” asked Baby Face. “What is Christmas?”

“Oh my!” exclaimed Ellie. “You have never celebrated Christmas, have you?”

“No,” said Baby Face. “I have no idea what Christmas even is.”

“Christmas is a holiday,” explained Ellie. “But not just any holiday, it is a very special holiday. It is a magical holiday.”

“I like holidays,” said Baby Face. “Christmas sounds like it is a lot of fun.”

“Christmas is the best holiday,” said Ellie. “There is always lots of good food to eat, lots of decorations and lots of gifts to exchange.”

“You mean I will get a gift,” said Baby Face. “I think I am going to like Christmas.”

Ellie worked hard over the next few days preparing for Baby Face’s first Christmas. She decorated the cave with pine wreaths that she made by hand. She also found some ivy and some acorns.

“The cave looks beautiful,” said Baby Face.

“Thank you,” said Ellie.

Ellie spent her spare time knitting Baby Face a sweater for Christmas. She was very careful to not let Baby Face see it. She wanted it to be a surprise.

Baby Face decided that he would like to make something special for Ellie. He found a beautiful piece of jade, so he made her a jade necklace.

Christmas Day came and Baby Face was so excited. He felt like a little child. He couldn’t wait to give Ellie the necklace that he had made for her.

“Oh my!” exclaimed Ellie, when she opened up the necklace. “Baby Face, this is so beautiful.”

“I am glad you like it,” said Baby Face.

“I do,” said Ellie. “I really do.”

Ellie went over and gave Baby Face a kiss on his cheek and she handed him the sweater she made for him.

“Oh this is so soft and warm,” said Baby Face, putting it on.

“Do you like it?” asked Ellie.

“I love it,” said Baby Face. “Thank you very much!”

Baby Face and Ellie both had a wonderful Christmas together.

“Good night Ellie,” said Baby Face that evening at bedtime.

“Good night Baby Face,” said Ellie. “Merry Christmas!”

“Merry Christmas to you as well,” said Baby Face.
