Batty is a Vampire
Batty hung upside down in his cave on the afternoon of Halloween. He thought about the fun that he was going to have with his friends that evening. He was going out trick-or-treating.
Batty had never been trick-or-treating before. He was a little scared because it was something new for him but at the same time he was very excited. Batty had his costume all laid out. He was going to dress as a vampire, which made perfect sense to him since he was a bat.
Just before dinner time, Batty’s friends, Fawn and Spot showed up at his cave. He welcomed them in and told them to help themselves to some treats while he got dressed. When he came out in his costume, Fawn and Spot were both laughing.
“What is the matter?” asked Batty. “Why are you laughing at my costume?”
“Well,” said Spot. “We were laughing because it suits you so much. You make a really good vampire.”
“You think so,” said Batty, feeling much better about his choice of costumes now.
“Yes,” said Fawn. “You look amazing.”
Fawn, Spot and Batty walked into the village. People actually stopped to stare at them because of Batty’s vampire costume. They liked it a lot. Batty got a lot of compliments on his costume.
Batty went up to the door of one house and the older man that answered the door actually shut the door on him because he was afraid. Fawn and Spot knocked on the door and when the older man answered they explained to him that Batty was not a real vampire.
“Oh my goodness,” said the older man. “You really had me going there.”
The older man put some extra goodies into Batty’s bag.
“Thanks,” said Batty to the older man.
Batty loved trick-or-treating. He had tons of fun and was glad that Fawn and Spot had asked him to go with them. He couldn’t wait for next Halloween to come because he had his costume all picked out. He was going to be a vampire again.
