Lil’ Rebel Lies
“Hey Lil’ Rebel,” said Mother. “We are going to rent a movie tonight. Do you want to watch it with us?”
“Sure,” said Lil’ Rebel.
“Now,” said Mother. “You did return those movies to the video store that you rented last weekend right?”
“I took them back,” lied Lil’ Rebel, knowing full well that she never returned the movies.
“Good,” said Mother. “So, when I go rent some movies tonight there won’t be any problems right?”
“Right,” lied Lil’ Rebel.
“Okay,” said Mother. “Your dad are I are going out for a bit. We’ll be back a bit later.”
“Oh my!” exclaimed Lil’ Rebel, when her parents left the house. “I’m in so much trouble. When Mom and Dad go to the video store and find out I haven’t returned the movies, they will probably ground me.”
Lil’ Rebel found the movies in her bedroom, got on her coat and shoes and walked up to the video store to return them.
“Oh good,” said Lil’ Rebel. “Now I won’t get into any trouble.”
Lil’ Rebel went home and when her parents came in, they didn’t look so happy.
“What’s wrong?” asked Lil’ Rebel.
“I’ll tell you what is wrong,” said Father. “You lied to us straight out about those movies.”
“What!” exclaimed Lil’ Rebel. “I took them back.”
“Yeah,” said Mother. “You took them back just today! Talk about embarrassment! We get up to the counter and the clerk said that we owe late fees on the movies that you said you had taken back already.”
“All you had to do was tell us the truth,” said Father.
“So,” said Lil’ Rebel. “I guess I’m grounded right.”
“Definitely,” said Father.
