The Gift of Rare Flowers for Mother’s Day

“Oh son!” exclaimed Silly Snake’s Mother with warmth in her voice. “I am so happy that you are coming to see me on Mother’s Day. I know you are busy but I do appreciate you taking the time to come visit me.”

“Of course,” said Silly Snake, his scales glistening under the soft sunlight filtering through the leaves above. “You know I love you. How are you doing? How is your neighbour, Gretchen? Is she behaving herself?”

“She tries,” said Mother with a gentle smile. “Did I tell you her son gave her a rare flower for Mother’s Day?”

“No,” said Silly Snake curiously. His eyes widened with interest as he slithered closer to listen intently. “Where did he find it? What is so rare about it?”

“He found it at the very edge of Storyland,” explained Mother, her eyes sparkled as she recalled the tale. “It is rare because they are only grown in that one spot.”

“I see,” said Silly Snake thoughtfully, his gaze distant as he imagined the secluded spot adorned with unique blossoms.

“Did he pick it or did he dig up the roots?” The question slipped from his tongue, echoing amidst the serene surroundings where nature hummed its eternal song.

“He gave it to Gretchen in a pot with lots of soil,” replied Mother.

“Good,” acknowledged Silly Snake sagely. “However, if it is that rare, he should have left it where it was.”

His voice carried wisdom beyond years; understanding that disturbing such rarity could lead to its extinction.

“Oh my!” cried out Mother; realization dawning upon her like first light illuminating darkened horizons.

Silly Snake knew precisely where those flowers bloomed – an enchanting place where nature whispered secrets known only to those who listened closely.

With determination and respect for nature’s treasures pulsating through him like rhythmic beats of ancient drums; Silly Snake embarked upon a journey through high hills adorned by emerald grasses swaying like ocean waves, rough terrain that told stories of the earth’s untamed spirit, and rocky streams that sang melodies of resilience.

He reached the area, a hidden gem where very rare flowers stood proudly, their petals vibrant against the canvas of green. He took a ton of pictures, capturing their essence without disturbing their peace.

The next day, Silly Snake went to a printing company and had several of the pictures blown up and made into posters. He took those with him when he saw his Mother on Mother’s Day.

“Happy Mother’s Day,” said Silly Snake, giving his mother a hug, his heart full of love and gratitude.

“These are beautiful!” cried Mother, her eyes reflecting the rare beauty of the flowers as she opened the gift Silly Snake had given her. “This is very thoughtful and a much better way of seeing rare flowers.”

“Yes,” said Silly Snake. “It definitely is.”

“This way,” said Mother, her voice tender and filled with appreciation. “I can enjoy the rare beauty and also leave the flowers in their natural habitat. Absolutely beautiful, and a gift that keeps the wonder of nature alive for all to cherish.”

And so, Silly Snake and his Mother spent the day basking in the joy of each other’s company, surrounded by the beauty of the rare flowers, knowing that the best gifts are those that preserve the precious balance of life.
