Baby and Sparky’s Valentine

“Sparky,” asked Baby. “Do you love me?”

“Kind of,” said Sparky.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” asked Baby.

“Well,” explained Sparky. “You’re kind of my sister, so I kind of love you.”

“I guess that makes sense,” said Baby.

Baby and Sparky are two kittens that live in Oshawa, Ontario. Baby is actually quite big for a kitten and she is only six months old. Sparky is a grey tabby kitten that is about four months old. She is much smaller than Baby.

“Why are you asking all these questions about love?” asked Sparky.

“I heard Mommy talking about Valentine’s Day,” said Baby. “Mommy told Daddy that she wants some flowers for Valentine’s Day.”

“I know what we can do,” said Sparky. “We could go outside and find some really nice flowers for Mommy.”

“Yes,” said Baby. “That would be a great idea.”

“Let’s do that this afternoon,” said Sparky.

“Okay,” said Baby. “Mommy loves us very much, so it would be a good thing to do for her.”

Baby and Sparky went outside that afternoon and picked some really nice flowers for Mommy.

“Mommy loves me the most,” said Sparky, after they had come back inside.

“What are you saying?” asked Baby. “Mommy loves me just as much as she loves you.”

“But who gets all of Mommy’s attention?” asked Sparky.

“Both of us do,” said Baby.

“Oh yeah,” said Sparky. “Okay, then who gets all the treats?”.

“Give it up Sparky,” said Baby. “You are just trying to cause a fight.”

“It almost worked,” said Sparky.

Baby got so mad at Sparky that she threw a flower at her. Sparky threw one at Baby. When Mommy came home from work, there were flowers all over the house.

“Oh dear,” laughed Mommy, seeing both Baby and Sparky in the middle of all the mess. “Were you two trying to pick Mommy some flowers?”
