A Father’s Day Mini-Concert

“Billy, are you ready to go?” asked Billy Troll’s wife and concert promoter, Dianne. “The Father’s Day concert starts in two hours.”

“I have to stop at the hospital first,” said Billy. “Mom just called and said Dad is out of the operating room. I have to see him before the concert.”

“Okay,” said Dianne. “I’ll get the crew to do your sound check. That will bide you some extra time. Please hurry though and please don’t be late.”

“I will be there on time,” said Billy, grabbing his guitar.

“Give Dad Troll my love,” said Dianne.

“I will,” waved Billy, on his way out the door.

Billy went to the hospital. His dad was awake but was pretty groggy.

“Happy Father’s Day,” said Billy, giving his dad a kiss on his forehead. “Sorry you have to spend it here, though.”

Billy’s dad shook his head.

“I am doing a Father’s Day concert in an hour and a half,” said Billy. “However, because you are going to miss it, I thought I would sing you a few songs.”

“A mini Father’s Day concert” said Billy’s Dad, weakly.

“Exactly,” said Billy.

Billy sang a few songs for his dad and gave him a kiss on his forehead.

“Happy Father’s Day,” waved Billy on his way out the door.

Billy saw his dad smile and knew he enjoyed his mini concert.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” announced Dianne, when she saw Billy step onto the stage. “I give you, Billy Troll!”

“That was good timing,” whispered Dianne to Billy.

“Told you I’d be here,” said Billy, smiling.
