Victory Day

“Good news!” shouted the general in charge of Veteran Phil’s troop. “The war is over! World War II is over!”

Those are words Veteran Phil has never forgotten, even after all these years have passed.

words. He will never forget the feeling of victory that ran through his veins. He will never forget the glorious feeling of relief he felt.

Veteran Phil got down on his knees. He openly sobbed. He remembered he was wracked with such intense emotions.

“It certainly is a great day to be alive,” Veteran Phil remembered saying. “Victory Day is here!”

Veteran Phil then knew exactly what he was going to do. He wanted to go home and be with his wife, Mary. He wanted to lead a normal life.

“So men,” said the general after the news had sunk in. “What are you going to do with your lives?”

“I think I am going to go home and farm my land,” said Veteran Phil. “I just want to lead a normal life now. I am done with war and battlefields. I hope there is no more war for a very long time to come! Victory Day is here!”
