Nellie the Nurse – Character Insight
I created Nellie the Nurse as part of my Canadian Trades/Professions Character Challenge. Nurses are vital to helping Canada with the deadly coronavirus. Nellie the Nurse is fighting a similar virus in Storyland, coryvirus.
Nellie is very important because she helps everyone stay safe from a tricky virus called coryvirus, which is a lot like Covid-19.. Nellie is super strong and works very hard. She wears a special mask and gloves to make sure she doesn’t get sick, because she wants to be there to help everyone.
Every day, Nellie goes to work, even if she’s feeling really tired. She knows that she has to be there for all the people who need her. She’s one of the first people to help when someone isn’t feeling well. That’s why she’s called an essential worker. It means she’s really important, just like superheroes!
Even though Nellie works a lot and comes home late, she always has a big smile for her daughter, Danielle. She tells Danielle that it’s important to be kind and to help others. Nellie never gives up, no matter how tough things get. She always says nice things to make her patients feel better because she really cares about them.
We should all be like Nellie and say thank you to nurses and doctors who are working so hard to keep us all healthy. They’re real-life heroes, fighting the virus every day to make sure we can all play and laugh together again.
