Winter Ice-Skating

Bright Idea was doing his homework at the kitchen table. He happened to look outside. He saw his grandmother go into the garage. At first he didn’t think anything of it but after 15 minutes of her being in there, he started to get concerned. He went outside to check up on her.

“Grandma,” said Bright Idea. “What are you doing out here?”

“I am trying to find my skates,” said Grandma. “I want to go ice-skating.”

“I would love to go too,” said Bright Idea. “However, I would be terrified of falling on the ice now that I have been turned into a light bulb.”

“Hold on,” said Grandma. “I have a very large and very soft blanket. We could wrap it around you. It would protect you from falling.”

“I guess we could try it,” said Bright Idea.

Grandma got the blanket while Bright Idea found their skates.

“This is fun,” said Grandma, skating.

“I am sorry,” said Bright Idea, feeling scared. “I can’t enjoy myself. This blanket might protect me but what if it doesn’t.”

“I understand,” said Grandma. “I don’t want you to do anything you are uncomfortable doing.”

“Thank you,” said Bright Idea, taking his skates off.

“Getting you to go skating was probably not such a bright idea,” said Grandma.
