Gertie the Queen of the Mechanical Bull Riding Competition
Gertie the Queen of the Calgary Stampede walked through the grounds of the Calgary Stampede. She walked past a tent that had a mechanical bull in it.
“I want to ride that thing,” said Gertie, watching one rider after another get bucked off.
“Are you sure?” a young man said after overhearing Gertie. “You might hurt yourself. Besides, aren’t you just a little too old?”
“I take offense to that,” said Gertie.
Gertie walked over to the mechanical bull and hopped on it.
“Oh my!” exclaimed the young man, impressed with Gertie’s bull riding skills. “You are good. I apologize for my comment about you being too old. You are better than some of the young riders.”
“Thank you,” said Gertie.
“Would you like to enter a friendly mechanical bull riding competition?” whispered the young man.
“I would love to,” said Gertie.
“My name is Sam,” said the young man.
“I am Gertie,” said Gertie. “I am the Queen of the Calgary Stampede.”
“Right,” laughed Sam. “And I am a prince.”
Gertie entered the mechanical bull riding competition. She was impressing all of the mechanical bull riders.
“Wow!” exclaimed Sam, at the end of Gertie’s bull riding competition. “You won, hands down.”
“Does that make me the Queen of the Mechanical Bull Riding competition?” asked Gertie.
“It certainly does,” laughed Sam. “In fact, I have a crown that someone won but left behind.”
“I guess that makes it official,” said Gertie. “I am a real queen.”
“You sure are,” said Sam.
