A Beautiful Victoria Day Weekend

“Well, look here,” said Queen V., her eyes sparkling with excitement as she pointed to the weather forecast in the colorful newspaper. “Do my eyes deceive me, or is this weekend, the Victoria Day weekend, going to be nice?”

“It does appear that the weather is going to be nice,” replied Paul, Queen V.’s husband, peering over her shoulder at the newspaper.

“Do you think it’s true?” asked Queen V., her eyes glittering with hope.

“Gee,” said Paul, “I don’t want to jinx it, but it does say so.”

“I have so much I want to do,” said Queen V., starting to work herself into a frenzy.

“My dear,” said Paul, trying to calm her down. “This may be a nice Victoria Day. It’s a very rare occurrence, let’s relax and enjoy ourselves.”

“How can I relax when there is so much to do?” asked Queen V.

“Let me show you how to relax,” said Paul, placing his hands on Queen V.’s shoulders and giving her a gentle massage.

Queen V. started to relax under Paul’s magic touch. That was until her mind started to wander.

“The horses need to be moved into their new stalls,” Queen V. spoke aloud, not realizing she had done so.

“Yes,” said Paul, removing his hands, knowing that his efforts to make Queen V. relax were futile. “I have hired someone to help us with that.”

“And whitewashing the back section of the castle,” continued Queen V.

“I did that yesterday,” said Paul.

“Oh right,” said Queen V. “You know, I think we need to have a huge celebration to make the most of this nice weather.”

“Okay,” said Paul, agreeable. “That is the best idea I’ve heard.”

“I will order the food,” said Queen V.

“You just leave everything to me,” said Paul. “After all, it is your birthday.”

“Alright,” Queen V. conceded.

Paul did everything. He arranged for delicious food, a live band, and beautiful decorations.

“This is wonderful,” said Queen V., dancing with Paul and thoroughly enjoying herself.

“We have had the best weather for your birthday,” said Paul.

Paul took a small velvet box out of his pocket and handed it to her.

“Happy birthday!” said Paul.

“Oh my!” Queen V. gasped when she saw the ruby ring Paul had given her. “I love it!”

“You are welcome!” exclaimed Paul, taking her hand, and they danced the night away.
