Easter Tears for Creepy Creature

“Gee,” said Creepy Creature, wringing his hands together. “I don’t have to look very far for chocolate today. It’s right here at my feet. This is amazing!”

Creepy Creature stumbled upon a field in Storyland that had been set aside for Storyland’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Thousands of eggs were scattered throughout the two-acre field, providing plenty for everyone, including Creepy Creature.

“I am in heaven,” said Creepy Creature.

As Storyland characters wandered through the field on Easter Day, not one of them ran into Creepy Creature. He stayed just far enough ahead of the crowd so they couldn’t see him. However, he could hear them talking about him.

“Don’t you find it odd that Creepy Creature isn’t trying to wrap himself around our legs and get candy?” asked Racum Raccoon, a very old character in Storyland.

“Or scream so loudly that the only way to stop him was to give him candy,” added Racum’s best friend, Mad Dog Wolf.

“I kind of miss him,” said Racum.

“Me too,” agreed Mad Dog.

A tear ran down Creepy Creature’s face. It was a tear of joy. Then another tear followed, one of happiness. Soon, buckets of tears flowed, and Creepy Creature forgot what each tear represented—they were all jumbled together.

“They miss me!” thought Creepy Creature through his tears. “That must mean they truly care about me!”

“Do you hear that?” asked Racum. “I hear someone crying.”

“It’s coming from behind that rock,” said Mad Dog Wolf.

Racum and Mad Dog hurried over to the rock. There, they found Creepy Creature sobbing. Racum bent down and picked him up. Instead of wrapping himself tightly around Racum, Creepy Creature experienced a real hug for the first time. It felt warm and welcoming. Overwhelmed, Creepy Creature’s tears fell anew—tears of being wanted and cared for.

“Here,” said Mad Dog, unwrapping one of his chocolates and offering it to Creepy Creature. “Happy Easter!”

“I love Easter!” cried Creepy Creature, this time with tears of love.
