A Gummy Father’s Day

“What is all the racket here?” asked Uncle Sour Gum Drop, with a miserable look on his face.

“We are having a Father’s Day celebration,” said Mommy Gum Drop, taking Daddy Gum Drop by the hand and dancing.

“Well please stop at once!” shouted Uncle Sour Gum Drop. “Your celebration is annoying.”

“It certainly wouldn’t hurt for you to join us,” said Daddy Gum Drop.

“Yes,” agreed Mommy Gum Drop, taking Uncle Sour Gum Drop’s hand and pulling him onto the dance floor with them. “You need to smile more. It isn’t healthy to be so sour and miserable.”

“I miss Dad,” said Uncle Sour Gum Drop. “It has been much too long since we have seen him.”

“I do too,” said Mommy Gum Drop, pulling the kitchen door open and motioning for someone to come into the room.

“Dad!” shouted Uncle Sour Gum Drop, when he saw their dad enter the room. “What a nice surprise!”

“Thank you,” said Dad. “Now, get that sour look off your face and give me a hug.”

Uncle Sour Gum Drop gave Dad the biggest hug he could and then he actually smiled.

“I bet that smile felt good,” said Dad.

“As a matter of fact,” said Uncle Sour Gum Drop. “Yes, it certainly did. Happy Father’s Day!”
