Summer Picnic

Forgetful Fred was helping his wife, Sarah, set the table for dinner.

“Thank you sweetheart,” said Sarah, dishing out the roasted chicken she had prepared for dinner. “Don’t forget that we have our annual summer picnic tomorrow.”

“Right,” said Forgetful Fred. “Please remind me in the morning.”

“Okay,” said Sarah. “I will do that.”

Sarah went into the kitchen, to get the gravy that she had forgotten to bring to the table.

“I will just set a reminder on my phone about the picnic,” said Forgetful Fred. “I really want to go on the picnic tomorrow and I don’t want to forget about it.”

The next morning, Sarah woke up and she found out that Forgetful Fred had already gotten up and had left the house.

“Oh dear!” cried Sarah. “I was supposed to remind him about our summer picnic this morning. He will never remember it.”

Sarah tried to call Forgetful Fred on his cell phone but he wasn’t answering. Sarah kept trying his cell but she couldn’t get through to him. She also had no idea where he was. She could only hope that he would come home soon.

About an hour before they were to leave for the picnic, Forgetful Fred finally came home.

“Are you ready to go to our summer picnic?” asked Forgetful Fred.

“Oh you remembered!” cried Sarah, giving Forgetful Fred a huge hug.

“I set a reminder on my phone last night right after you told me about it,” said Forgetful Fred.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” asked Sarah. “I was worried all day that you wouldn’t remember.”

“I forgot,” said Forgetful Fred.

“At least you remembered the picnic,” said Sarah.

Forgetful Fred and Sarah went to their summer picnic. They had the best time ever.
