Eager Eagle Stories
Eager Eagle is a resident of Storyland Canada – Animal World whose defining characteristic is an almost obsessive commitment to punctuality. He does not merely dislike being late—he despises it with a fervor that borders on philosophical. More than that, he despises excuses for lateness even more, viewing them as the refuge of the uncommitted and the weak-willed. In his mind, there is no circumstance grave enough to justify breaking a promise about time. He has never missed an appointment in his life, and this record is not a matter of luck or convenience—it is a matter of principle. When grounded by a torn wing that strips away his natural sense of time and forces him to navigate the world on foot, Eager Eagle does not hesitate. He walks the entire distance to his noon appointment despite bleeding, despite pain that throbs with every step, despite the uncertainty of a creature who has always read time in the wind and the sun. He arrives at 11:42, eighteen minutes early, having endured agony rather than risk being late.
What drives Eager Eagle is not mere habit but a deep, almost spiritual belief that one’s word about time is sacred. To be late is to break faith. To make an excuse is to compound that betrayal with dishonesty. He is the kind of character who would rather suffer than disappoint, who would rather admit uncertainty than fabricate a reason for failure. This uncompromising nature makes him both admirable and somewhat brittle—a creature whose world is held together by the ticking of clocks and the iron discipline of his own will. Yet there is something noble in his refusal to bend, something that commands respect even as it hints at the cost such rigidity might exact.
