Christmas Building 2024 – Apartment 20 – Skinny Matilda
Skinny Matilda sat on her plush couch, scrolling through party dresses on her phone. Her friend Stella sat beside her, sipping a cup of steaming hot coffee.
“There’s a Christmas party that I’ve been invited to,” said Skinny Matilda, her eyes scanning the various dresses.
Stella raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued.
“That sounds like fun,” she said, her voice filled with enthusiasm.
But Skinny Matilda’s expression turned skeptical.
“I don’t think I’m going to go, though,” she said, her voice laced with hesitation.
Stella’s eyes narrowed, her concern evident.
“Why not?” she asked, her voice soft.
Skinny Matilda sighed, her shoulders sagging.
“It’s for the company I used to work for, before I was in that coma.” Skinny Matilda replied.
Stella’s face lit up with understanding.
“Stay home,” she advised, her voice firm. “You don’t need to listen to what they have to say about you.”
Skinny Matilda nodded in agreement, her eyes flashing with determination.
“Very true,” she said, her voice filled with conviction. “I don’t need to hear anything negative.”
Stella smiled, her eyes shining with support.
“Why don’t we hang out instead?” she suggested, her voice filled with warmth.
Skinny Matilda’s face lit up with a smile, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“We could do that,” she said, her voice filled with enthusiasm.
As they chatted, Skinny Matilda’s mind wandered back to her former workplace. She remembered the hurtful comments and teasing she had endured, particularly from Jessica and Timothy. Stella seemed to sense her thoughts, her expression turning serious.
“You don’t need negativity in your life,” she said, her voice firm.
Skinny Matilda nodded, her eyes flashing with determination.
“You’re right,” she said, her voice filled with pride. “Besides, I’m sure Jessica and Timothy will be there.”
Stella’s eyes narrowed, her disgust evident.
“Oh, please,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “They’re the ones who teased you mercilessly when you were bigger, and Timothy only wanted to date you after you lost all that weight.”
Skinny Matilda’s face twisted in distaste, her eyes flashing with anger.
“I want nothing to do with them,” she said, her voice firm
Stella’s expression turned proud, her eyes shining with admiration.
“I’m very proud of you,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. “You have every right to seek revenge for what they did to you, but instead, you’ve chosen the high road. Well done.”
Skinny Matilda smiled, her eyes sparkling with gratitude.
“Thank you,” she said, her voice filled with appreciation.
Later that day, Skinny Matilda received an email from the Christmas Building, inviting her to spend Christmas there. She gasped in amazement, her eyes scanning the email in wonder. Stella’s eyes widened in surprise when Skinny Matilda showed her the invitation.
“I bet you were chosen because you didn’t want to seek revenge on Jessica and Timothy,” she said, her voice filled with conviction.
Skinny Matilda shrugged, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“I don’t know why else they would choose me,” she said, her voice filled with humility.
But as she arrived at the Christmas Building in a luxurious limousine, she began to understand.
“Welcome,” said Lost Christmas Tree, greeting her with a warm smile. “We’re very happy to have you here. We have lots of food, music, and dancing.”
Skinny Matilda’s eyes widened in wonder as she stepped inside the building, taking in the sights and sounds of the festive atmosphere.
“Oh, wonderful,” she exclaimed, her voice filled with delight.
But as she looked at Lost Christmas Tree, her eyes narrowed with curiosity.
“Why was I chosen, though?” asked Skinny Matilda. “Is it because I didn’t want to seek revenge on Jessica and Timothy?”
Lost Christmas Tree nodded, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
“That, and the fact that you’ve been taking care of your health since you came out of that coma you were in,” said Lost Christmas Tree.
Skinny Matilda’s face lit up with a smile, her eyes shining with pride.
“I don’t ever want to be like I was before that,” she said, her voice filled with determination.
As she spent the day at the Christmas Building, Skinny Matilda felt a sense of joy and belonging she had never experienced before. And when she was given an award for her kindness and perseverance, she felt an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude.
As she left the Christmas Building, Skinny Matilda knew that this was a Christmas she would never forget. She had been recognized for her kindness and perseverance, and she had discovered a new sense of purpose and belonging. And as she looked back at the Christmas Building, she knew that she would always treasure the memory of this special night, a night that had changed her life forever.
The next morning, Skinny Matilda woke up feeling refreshed and renewed. She looked in the mirror and smiled, her eyes shining with confidence. She knew that she had found a new path in life, one that was filled with kindness, compassion, and purpose.
