Bird Songs
“Would you listen to the chatter of those birds?” shouted Angry Cat, his voice echoing through the cozy living room. “They are disturbing my sleep and making me angry!”
His green eyes glinted with irritation as he glared at the window where the birds perched, oblivious to his distress.
“I love the sound of the songbirds,” said Harriet, Angry Cat’s sister, her voice a soothing contrast. “It is a beautiful melody.”
She swayed gently to the rhythm, a contented smile gracing her whiskered face.
“That figures,” grumbled Angry Cat, his fur bristling with annoyance. “Of course, you would like the sound of the birds.”
He turned away, trying to ignore the harmonious chirping that filled the air.
“I like it too,” chimed in Mother, her tone warm and gentle.
She sat knitting in her favorite armchair, the soft clinking of her needles adding to the room’s peaceful ambiance.
“Oh dear me,” cried Angry Cat, throwing his paws up in exasperation. “I suppose the two of you would like to invite them in for your own private concert.”
His sarcastic remark hung in the air, but the others only chuckled at his theatrics.
“Now that is an idea,” laughed Harriet, her blue eyes twinkling with mischief. She watched as Angry Cat’s gaze fell upon her headphones, lying amidst a pile of magazines on the coffee table.
“Can I borrow your headphones?” asked Angry Cat, hoping for some respite from the avian orchestra outside.
“Sure,” said Harriet, a playful smirk dancing on her lips. “But I don’t think you’re going to like what’s on them.”
“Anything is better than that racket,” muttered Angry Cat, snatching the headphones with a flick of his tail.
Harriet exchanged a glance with Mother, both struggling to contain their laughter as Angry Cat donned the headphones with a look of hopeful defiance.
“Why on earth would you record birds singing?” Angry Cat’s voice rose in disbelief as he quickly removed the headphones, his ears twitching in annoyance.
Mother and Harriet couldn’t hold back any longer; they laughed hysterically at Angry Cat, who buried his head into the soft blanket on his cat bed, desperately covering his ears with his paws in a futile attempt to block out the world.
