Easter Magic in the City

City Kid woke up early, even though it was Easter morning. He was excited to try on his new sneakers that he got for Easter. He got dressed and went for a run. He loved running. He felt alive and loved it.

Part way though his run, he stopped and took a good look around him. Something was missing and he couldn’t put his finger on it.

“Isn’t it strange how a city landscape can change so drastically,” City Kid heard a voice from behind him.

City Kid was surprised to see a furry bunny behind him, talking.

“I looks bare since they cut down all those trees,” said the bunny.

“That is what is different,” said City Kid.

“Have you heard that construction on the new complex is going to start soon?” asked the bunny.

“I thought that was supposed to start this fall,” said City Kid.

“They moved it up,” said the bunny.

“That will change the landscape, yet again,” said City Kid.

“It will,” said the bunny. “Anyway, I see you are wearing the new sneakers I got you.”

“What?” asked City Kid confused. “I got these for Easter. Wait! Are you the Easter Bunny?”

“I sure am,” said the Easter Bunny. “I have to go now. It’s been a long night and I need a rest. Happy Easter!”

“Happy Easter!” exclaimed City Kid, still not believing he saw the Easter Bunny.

City Kid stood there, his mouth agape, watching the Easter Bunny hop away. The cityscape, though changed, seemed to sparkle with a new kind of magic. He looked down at his new sneakers; they weren’t just a pair of shoes anymore. They were a gift from the Easter Bunny! Every step he took felt lighter, every stride more meaningful.

As City Kid resumed his run, he realized that change was inevitable – trees would be cut down and new buildings would rise. But amidst all these changes, there was always something magical to discover if one only took the time to look around.

The sun began to rise higher in the sky; its golden rays painted the city in warm hues of orange and yellow. City Kid felt a renewed sense of connection to his surroundings. The city was alive with possibilities and every corner held a new adventure.

He sprinted home with exhilaration pumping through his veins. Bursting through the door, he couldn’t wait to tell everyone about his extraordinary encounter. But would they believe him? It didn’t matter because City Kid believed – and sometimes belief is where all magic begins.
