Happy Balloons
“Look at the happy balloons floating by,” said Baby Acorn. “Aren’t they pretty?”
“They sure are,” said Papa Acorn. “They are so colourful.”
“I would love to go for a ride with them,” said Baby Acorn.
“Yes,” said Papa Acorn. “I bet you would.”
Baby Acorn saw that the patio door was open. He went outside onto the patio and walked out onto the branch of the oak tree his family lived on. He was thrilled to see the balloons. He cheered and then clapped his hands together.
“Balloons!” exclaimed Baby Acorn, happily.
“Baby,” Papa Acorn said as he walked out onto the patio. “Be careful. I don’t want you to fall off the branch.”
“I will be careful,” said Baby Acorn. “Look Papa. I want to fly just like the balloons.”
No sooner did Baby say that, then he went tumbling off the branch.
“Baby!” cried Papa Acorn, peering over the edge of the branch and seeing his son lying in a pile of leaves on the ground. “Are you okay?”
“Yes,” shouted Baby. “I am fine.”
“I have to figure out a way of getting you back up to the branch,” said Papa.
“I can help,” said one of the balloons. “I am Sissy Balloon.”
“I would love that,” said Papa. “My son is so careless sometimes. However, I didn’t think you could talk.”
“My whole family and I can talk,” said Sissy Balloon.
“That is good to know,” said Papa. “We are acorns and we can talk too.”
“It is nice meet you,” said Sissy Balloon. “Now let me go get your son for you.”
“That would be wonderful,” said Papa.
Sissy Balloon carefully dropped down to the ground. She very carefully picked Baby Acorn up in her mouth.
“Oh this is so much fun,” cried Baby Acorn happily as Sissy Balloon lifted him up in the air. “I love balloons and have always wanted to go for a balloon ride.”
Instead of Sissy Balloon taking Baby Acorn straight back up to the branch, she took him on a little balloon ride first.
Baby was so happy. He waved at Papa, who stood watching him from the branch.
“Thank you!” exclaimed Baby when Sissy Balloon finally dropped him off onto the branch. “That was so much fun!”
“My pleasure,” said Sissy Balloon, catching up to her family, who were floating around the tree the Acorn family lived in.
