The Diary

“What are you reading?” asked Spot.

“A diary,” said Fawn.

“What!” exclaimed Spot. “You can’t read just anybody’s diary. It is there own thoughts and feelings and they are private.”

“Yes,” said Fawn. “I know that.”

“Well why are you reading it then?” asked Spot.

“It is my diary,” said Fawn.

“Really!” exclaimed Spot. “You have a diary.”

“Yes,” said Fawn. “Well, I had a diary. This is from when I was younger.”

“How young?” asked Spot.

“Well the last entry I wrote in it was the day that Jenny graduated public school,” said Fawn.

“Aweee,” said Spot, a tear forming in her eye. “I miss Jenny so much!”

Fawn and Spot sat down and read Fawn’s old diary together. They read about all the fun times they had together with Ricky and Jenny. They were both crying their eyes out.

“Why are you two crying?” a familiar voice asked.

Fawn and Spot both looked up and saw Ricky and Jenny both standing in the doorway. Well, the tears poured down their cheeks. They were so happy to see Ricky and Jenny.

“We were crying over you two,” said Spot.

“How did you know we were coming?” asked Jenny.

Ricky and Jenny had asked their parents not to tell their two favourite pet cows that they were coming for a visit. They wanted to surprise them.

“We didn’t,” said Fawn. “We were reading my old diary.”

“Aweeee,” said Jenny. “Hey, isn’t that the diary that me and you started writing together?”

“I almost forgot about that,” said Fawn. “We used to sit in the barn at the old farm and we’d write in our diaries for hours.”

“Yeah we did,” said Jenny, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye.

Mr. and Mrs. Hansen came down to the barn and saw Ricky, Jenny, Fawn and Spot all crying their eyes out.

“Oh my!” exclaimed Mrs. Hansen, holding back her own tears. “We’re all a bunch of cry babies aren’t we!”

“Yes,” said Mr. Hansen, wiping his own tears away. “We are aren’t we.”

Everyone started laughing then and they were having a good old time and it reminded them of the old times they used to have together. They all missed Ricky and Jenny so much and it was so hard to see them because they lived so far away from each other. They cherished every single minute they had with them before they had to go back home.
