Christmas Building 2024 – Apartment 19 – Rat Boy
Rat Boy shook his younger sister Cecilia awake, excitement radiating from his voice. “Come on, Cecilia! You have to get ready. We’re going Christmas shopping! We have to get gifts for Mother and Father.”
Cecilia’s eyes fluttered open, and she jumped out of bed, her blonde pigtails bouncing with each movement.
“Christmas shopping!” she squealed, her face lighting up with joy.
But as Rat Boy waited for Cecilia to get ready, he realized she was taking longer than expected. He knocked on her bedroom door, but there was no answer. He slowly opened the door and found Cecilia fast asleep, her small body curled up under the blankets. Rat Boy’s face filled with concern as he felt her forehead, discovering she had a fever. He covered her with a blanket and let her sleep, sending a text to their mother at work.
“I think she’s sick,” Rat Boy texted, his thumbs flying across the screen. “I won’t go Christmas shopping without her. We can always shop online. Most stores online have next-day delivery.”
His mother responded promptly, her message filled with relief and gratitude.
“Good plan,” she texted back. “When she wakes up, make sure she drinks lots.”
Rat Boy filled Cecilia’s water bottle and set it by her bed, watching over her as she slept. Hours passed, and Cecilia finally woke up, her eyes groggy but her smile bright.
“Rat Boy!” she cried, throwing off the covers.
Rat Boy rushed to her side, helping her out of bed.
“Come on,” she said, her voice filled with determination. “We have to do our Christmas shopping!”
But Rat Boy gently told her that the stores were closed, and their parents would be home from work soon. Cecilia’s face fell, her eyes welling up with tears.
“We can do our Christmas shopping online!” he exclaimed. “They’ll deliver the gifts tomorrow.”
Cecilia’s face lit up with excitement, and together they spent the evening shopping online, their laughter and chatter filling the room.
When their parents arrived home, they were beaming with pride at Rat Boy for taking care of his sister. As they sat down to dinner, Rat Boy received an email inviting him to the Christmas Building. His eyes widened in amazement as he read the message.
“I bet it’s because of the way you care for your sister,” said his mother, smiling warmly. “This invitation is very prestigious, and we’re so proud of you.”
Rat Boy’s face glowed with pride as he showed the email to his family. About an hour later, a sleek limousine pulled up outside their house, and Rat Boy couldn’t believe his eyes.
“Wow!” he exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement. “A limo!”
He climbed inside, feeling like royalty as the chauffeur drove him to the Christmas Building.
As the limo pulled up in front of the majestic building, Rat Boy gasped in awe. The building was adorned with sparkling lights and colorful decorations, its grandeur taking his breath away.
“Welcome,” said Lost Christmas Tree, greeting him with a warm smile.
Rat Boy’s eyes widened as he stepped inside the building, taking in the sights and sounds of the festive atmosphere. “Thank you,” he said, his voice filled with gratitude. “I’m confused as to why I’m here, though. My mom thinks it’s because I’ve been doing a good job taking care of my sister.”
Lost Christmas Tree nodded, his eyes twinkling with mirth. “Your mom was right,” he said. “That’s exactly why you were chosen. Now, we hope you have fun. We have lots of food, music, and dancing.” Rat Boy’s face lit up with excitement as he explored the Christmas Building, enjoying every moment of the magical experience.
As the night drew to a close, Rat Boy was presented with an award for his kindness and devotion to his sister. His heart swelled with pride as he accepted the award, feeling grateful for the recognition. As he left the Christmas Building, Rat Boy knew that this was a Christmas he would never forget, a Christmas filled with joy, love, and recognition for his kindness.
The next morning, Rat Boy woke up feeling happy and fulfilled. He looked over at Cecilia, who was still sleeping, and smiled. He knew that he had made a difference in her life, and that was the greatest gift of all. As he drifted off to sleep, Rat Boy felt grateful for the magical experience of the Christmas Building, and he knew that he would always treasure the memory of this special night.
