Queen V. and the Little Dragon

“Let’s get the decorations from the basement,” said Queen V., preparing for her birthday celebration, which just happens to fall on Victoria Day.

Paul, Queen V.’s husband, dropped the shears he had in his hand and went with Queen V. into the basement of their castle in the mountains of Kamloops, B.C.

“Let me open that door for you,” said Paul. “It is a heavy door.”

Paul tugged and pushed on the door as hard as he could. Upon opening the basement door, the force of the door removed an old mat, and under the mat, there was a trapdoor.

“Oh!” cried Queen V., excitedly. “I wonder if it leads down into a dungeon.”

“I wonder if our dungeon has a dragon,” laughed Paul.

“I hope he is a friendly dragon,” said Queen V., chuckling.

“I hope so,” said Paul. “We are getting too old to be training a dragon.”

“Speak for yourself,” said Queen V. with a smirk on her face.

Paul opened the trapdoor, and he heard a faint noise coming from behind a partitioned wall. He saw an entrance to another little room.

“Oh my!” cried Paul when he found the source of the noise. “Some dragon you are!”

Paul bent over and picked up a very fluffy, very gray kitten.

“Paul,” he heard Queen V. shout. “Are you okay down there?”

“Yes,” said Paul, coming back up through the trapdoor, with the kitten in one hand.

“Here is our dragon!” exclaimed Paul, handing the ball of fur to Queen V.

“Oh my!” cried Queen V. “What an adorable little dragon you are!”

“It looks like we now own this little dragon,” laughed Paul, seeing the little kitten cuddling with Queen V.

“Come on, Draco,” said Queen V., not letting go of the little kitten. “I bet you are starving!”

And so, the grand birthday celebration for Queen V. began, with the halls of the castle echoing with merriment and the warmth of friendship. Draco, the little gray “dragon,” became the star of the party, enchanting guests with his playful antics and endearing purrs. As the night drew to a close, Queen V. stood beside Paul, watching the fireworks light up the sky, and whispered, “This has been the most magical Victoria Day, thanks to our little Draco.” And with that, they danced under the stars, their hearts full of love and their kingdom full of joy.
