A Rebellious Joke

“Dad, are you sure I can’t go to the dance this Friday night?” asked Lil’ Rebel.

“You can’t go to your dance,” said Lil’ Rebels Dad. “Remember, you are grounded.”

“Fine,” said Lil’ Rebel angrily. “I really wanted to go. This isn’t fair.”

“By the way,” said Dad. “Your friend, Jackie Jester is outside.”

Lil’ Rebel went outside and saw Jackie Jester. She was not in a very good mood.

“You don’t seem very happy,” said Jackie Jester.

“I’m not,” said Lil’ Rebel. “Dad said I can’t go to the dance. I am grounded.”

“Well,” said Jackie Jester, waving for Lil’ Rebel’s dad to come outside. “You are lucky that it is April Fool’s Day.”

“What do you mean?” asked Lil’ Rebel.

“April Fool’s!” shouted Dad, coming outside.

“What?” asked Lil’ Rebel.

“You can go to the dance,” said Dad, grinning from ear to ear.

“Oh, Daddy, thank you so much!” exclaimed Lil’ Rebel, crying happy tears. “This is the best April Fool’s Day ever!”

“Can I go to the dance with you?” asked Jackie Jester.

“I would love that,” said Lil’ Rebel.
