Summer Peacefulness

Debbie returned home from a trip and the only thing she wanted to do was relax. She took a book and an ice-cold glass of lemonade and sat outside on her patio.

“It is a beautiful day for some summer peacefulness,” said Debbie, soaking up the warm sunshine and enjoying a refreshing cool breeze. “It is no wonder I love summer and there is not an insect in a sight.”

Debbie started reading her book. She didn’t even get through the first paragraph, when a fly came and landed on her nose. She grabbed an old newspaper that was sitting on the table and she rolled it up. She tried swatting at the fly but she kept missing it. After all, she didn’t want to hit herself in the face with it. It didn’t matter what she did, she couldn’t get rid of the fly.

“You are ruining my summer peacefulness,” said Debbie.

Debbie finally got the fly off her nose and she decided she didn’t want to take the chance that the fly would come back so she took her book and her lemonade and went inside.

“This is still relaxing,” said Debbie, with her feet up on the couch, enjoying the summer peacefulness.
