Apartment 6 – 2019 Resolution for Forgetful Fred

“Forgetful Fred,” said Hop Out, sitting in his office with his twin brother, Hop In and seeing Forgetful Fred at the office door. “It is our pleasure to welcome you to the New Year’s Building.”

“Yes,” said Hop In, seeing a look of confusion on Forgetful Fred’s face. “As I am sure you are aware we are here to help you hop out of 2018 and hop in to 2019 smoothly.”

“And judging from the look on your face,” said Hop Out, also seeing the confused look. “You have no idea as to why you are here, do you?”

“Not a clue,” laughed Forgetful Fred, feeling much better now that Hop Out and Hop In knew what was going on.

“Is there anything you can remember about 2018 that would be preventing you from hopping out smoothly?” asked Hop Out.

Forgetful Fred shrugged his shoulders. He honestly couldn’t remember.

“You know,” said Hop Out. “Perhaps you can’t hop out of 2018 smoothly because you are having such a hard time remembering things.”

“Yes,” said Hop In. “Does that make sense to you? Do you think your 2019 resolution is to remember more?”

“That does make sense to me,” said Forgetful Fred. “It would be nice to be able to remember more. How will I be able to do that?”

“Well,” said Hop In. “I find that when I have something important to do and I know I am not going to remember it, it helps for me to write things down. I keep a pen and notebook with me at all times.”

“Notebook!” exclaimed Forgetful Fred, pulling a small notebook out of his jacket pocket. “I did write down in here about my 2019 resolution. I just completely forgot I had done so.”

Forgetful Fred opened his notebook and read his 2019 resolution to Hop Out and Hop In.

“For my 2019 resolution,” read Forgetful Fred. “I would like to be able to remember more.”

“We are on the right track,” said Hop In.

“Yes,” said Forgetful Fred. “I just have to figure out a way to remember to look at my notebook.”

“How about whenever you walk through a door the first thing you do is take out your notebook and read it,” said Hop In.

“Yes,” said Forgetful Fred. “That would work.”

“I believe you are ready to hop out of 2018,” said Hop Out.

“And I believe you are ready to hop into 2019 smoothly,” said Hop In.

“Thank you,” said Forgetful Fred. “Happy New Year!”
