Victoria Day, celebrated on May 20, 2024, is indeed a significant holiday in Canada, marking the birthday of Queen Victoria. It’s a day steeped in tradition and history, reflecting Canada’s ties to the British monarchy. Beyond the historical aspect, Victoria Day symbolizes the unofficial start of the summer season for many Canadians, with outdoor activities like barbecues, parades, fireworks and the beginning of camping season.
The anticipation for warmer weather and the chance to enjoy the great outdoors is palpable. However, it’s a bit of a running joke that the weather doesn’t always cooperate, often bringing rain during the long weekend. Despite this, Canadians are resilient and well-prepared, often embracing the unpredictable weather with rain gear and waterproof tents, ensuring that the damp conditions don’t dampen the festive spirit.
