Friday the 13th

“What is everyone doing at home tonight?” asked Fawn.

“Fawn,” said Spot. “What is today?”

“It is Friday,” said Fawn. “Oh wait, did I miss something? Did I miss someone’s birthday?”

“No,” said Spot. “You didn’t miss anyone’s birthday. It isn’t anyone’s anniversary either. It is Friday the 13th.”

“Oh,” said Fawn. “I don’t care about Friday the 13th. I’m not superstitious.”

“Well I am,” said Spot. “And so is Mr. and Mrs. Hansen.”

“That is just silly,” said Fawn.

“If it is so silly then why aren’t you going out tonight?” asked Spot.

“I just don’t feel like going out,” said Fawn.

“I see,” said Spot.

“What is that supposed to mean?” asked Fawn.

“Nothing,” said Spot.

“Oh, I get it,” said Fawn. “You think 1’m afraid to go out.”

“I’m not saying anything,” said Spot.

”Okay, ” said Fawn. “I’m going to prove to you that I’m not scared. I’m going to go to the movies.”

Fawn got his coat on and was walking up the driveway. It was very dark outside. Fawn wasn’t very scared, though. He kept walking. He then felt the hairs on his back stand straight up and he felt someone was watching him. He had to admit that he was scared, not a whole lot, but just a little.

“Who, who,” Fawn heard someone say. “Who, who.”

Fawn ran back home just as fast as he could.

“What Is the matter?” asked Spot.

“I’m scared,” said Fawn.

Spot didn’t dare say “I told you so.” She didn’t have to. She could see that Fawn was scared.

“How about playing a game of cards with me?” asked Spot.

“Sure,” said Fawn. “I would love to.”
