Too Cold for Ice

Mr. Iceman was very excited. It was a very cold winter day. Mr. Iceman loved winter and the colder winter was the more he loved it.

“I can’t wait to go outside,” said Mr. Iceman, looking out his kitchen window.

Mr. Iceman smiled when he saw his neighbour, Warren having problems starting his car. He smiled when he saw his other neighbours shivering from the cold.

“Oh it is cold,” said Mr. Iceman. “This makes me so happy.”

Mr. Iceman stepped outside in his usual attire. He was wearing his black tank top and brightly coloured flowered shorts. Mr. Iceman never wears warm clothes. He doesn’t have to. He never feels the cold. Mr. Iceman does, however, have a special ability to make ice with his feet. The ice he makes isn’t just any ice. Mr. Iceman makes the highest quality ice.

Once outside, Mr. Iceman waved to Warren. Warren had just gotten his car started. He was letting it warm up a bit before he drove it.

“My,” said Warren, visibly shivering. “I think this is the coldest day so far this winter.”

“It is,” said Mr. Iceman. “And, I love it.”

“I bet you do,” said Warren.” So, why are you outside on this cold day? Are you going to make some ice?”

“I sure am,” said Mr. Iceman.

“I do hope it won’t be here on the sidewalk,” said Warren.

“No,” said Mr. Iceman. “I am going to make some ice at the park.”

“Well,” said Warren, getting into his warm car. “Be safe.”

“I will,” said Mr. Iceman.

Mr. Iceman walked over to the park and he proceeded to make some ice. He took a few steps and looked back at the ice he created.

“What is going on?” asked Mr. Iceman, angrily, seeing there was no ice at all.

Mr. Iceman examined the bottom of his feet. He noticed there was no ice on them.

“This is strange,” said Mr. Iceman. “Could it be that it is just too cold even for me?”

Mr. Iceman never did find out why he couldn’t make ice that day. He was able to make ice perfectly fine the next day but then, it was a little bit warmer the next day.

“I guess it was just too cold yesterday,” said Mr. Iceman.

Moral of this Story:

  • Sometimes it is just too cold.
  • Example: Mr. Iceman couldn’t make ice on the coldest day of winter. He suspected it was because of it being too cold.
